A small CVS trip, 7 items for $.38

My last May couponing purchase was at CVS, and while small, it was profitable.  If you are new to this and want to see an example of how couponing can save you $$'s:

Purchased:
2 Dove chocolate bars (2 for $1, $1 ECB = free)
Preparation H Totables ($3.99 - $3.99 ECB = free)
2 Oral B Indicator toothbrushes (2@$1.99 = $3.98 less $2 ECB = 2/$1.98)
Soleil Shimmer razor ($6.99 - $3.00 ECB = $3.99)
Green bag tag ($.99)

Used the following Q's:
$.99 CVS scanner coupon for Green bag tag
$2 Q for Preparation H (Print $2 Q) (Thanks Amit19 Deals World)
$1.50/2 Oral B toothbrushes (5/1 P&G exp 5/31)
$3/1 Bic Soleil disposable (5/1 SS exp 6/12)
$.99 ECB (from a prior purchase)

Total on debit card = $9.63
Total ECB's = $9.99

Net result after coupons: green bag tag free, Prep H is a $2 MM, Oral B toothbrushes 2/$.49, and Bic Soleil razor $.99.

I consider ECB's to be just like cash, so realistically, the $.99 ECB I used in payment should be added back to the total out-of-pocket amount of $9.63.
10.62 total my expense
9.99 ECB's that I will use in future purchases
.63  my cost for this purchase

Bringing your own reusable bag and having your Green bag tag scanned is also good for $.25 credit each day you use it (after 4 uses, $1 ECB prints at the bottom of your receipt).  So taking that into account, this trip was actually a cost of $.38.

After I was rung up, the cashier said "you're leaving with more money than you paid".  Love it, and Love CVS for the help!

(Now I need a coupon for a better camera!)

  1. Here's another CVS trip last night:

    Purchased:
    Crest ProHealth Rinse 1 liter
    $4.50 - $2.50 ECB - $2 Q (6/05 PG $2/1)=free
    John Frieda Shampoo
    $5 - $5 Q (6/05 SS SFChronicle $5/1) = free
    John Frieda Conditioner
    $5 - $5 Q (6/05 SS SFChronicle $5/1) = free
Buy $10 John Frieda get $3 ECB = MM
    Exederin ES
    $.99 - $.99 ECB = free
    Colgate 360 surround toothbrush
    2 @2.79 = $5.58 - $4 ECB - $2.00 Q's (May All You $1/1 x2) = MM

I used an email coupon for $4 off of $20 purchase, and rolled a $3 ECB from last week's Soleil purchase. The totals were:
    $22.39 - $21 Q's = $1.39 out of pocket

And I have in hand, $10.49 in ECB's that I can use on my next CVS trip. Thank you CVS!
